Coyote shot dead in Cabbagetown

Talking about coyotes...

A coyote was shot dead by police this week in Toronto's Cabbagetown:

We think that the police were trigger-happy - in fact, the coyote wasn't "aggressive" as the police claimed, nor was it attacking anyone at the time.  There are many other ways the coyote could have been dealt with without killing it.  It is sad that this coyote was used as target practice by the police.

Dear Christine,

We didn't dare link the video that a passerby took of the poor coyote wandering up and down the residential street... and yawning! We didn't even watch the rest of the video because we would get upset - the Coyote got shot shortly after that scene.

Couldn't animal services have trapped the coyote and relocated it somewhere else where it would not pose any risk?

Thanks for your comment!
